It’s been 24 years since Duncanville has won a state championship. This past Saturday the Panthers faced a familiar foe, and captured the UIL 6A Division 1 state championship. This was Coach Reginald Samples first state championship in his historic career. The final score was 28-21.
Caden Durham (29) was the offense’s most valuable player. Caden rushed for 105 yards and scored a total of three rushing touchdowns. Keelon Russell (12) threw for 84 yards and rushed 103 yards; he scored a rushing touchdown in the second quarter.
Colin Simmons (8) was the defense’s most valuable player; he had three tackles for a loss and two sacks. The defense had a great start with an interception in the first quarter by Tyren Polley (21). Duncanville sealed the victory with a defensive stop against North Shore’s quarterback David Amador (8) with 1:04 left in the fourth quarter.
Duncanville ended their football season undefeated.
