Duncanville defeats Richardson Pearce
October 24, 2019
RICHARDSON – Trysten Smith ran for four touchdowns, leading Duncanville to a 39-7 win over Richardson Pearce Friday night at Eagle-Mustang Stadium in Richardson.
Pearce (4-3, 3-1 district) immediately started the game off strong, recovering their own onside kick. After a lengthy drive however, they were unable to convert on fourth down. Texas commit Ja’quinden Jackson then led a long, 13-play Duncanville drive capped off by a Smith four-yard touchdown run.
Pearce again had a chance deep into Duncanville (7-0, 4-0 district) territory, but on fourth down Waters’ pass was picked off, leading to a long run by Smith to score again in two plays, this time from one-yard out.
Jackson continued to have the offense rolling in the second half, this time doing it himself on a 29-yard touchdown run on their first drive. After Jackson converted a long third down with an acrobatic hurdle, Smith iced the game with his third score, this time from 48 yards.
Pearson’s one touchdown would mark the first allowed touchdown of the season by Duncanville to an in-state team, after a late Anthony Bohling touchdown run.
Even though Duncanville would win the game, we would fall to #4 in the national ranking due to that one touchdown by Pearce.
