Theatre will present A Classic Holiday starting Wednesday December 16 through the 18 at 7:00. The show will be held in the Blackbox for a suggested $3 donation to Duncanville Outreach.

Directors Lucy Russell and Elisa Guse will be presenting A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and other Christmas favorites.

Junior Nicolas Harlan said getting the main role as the Grinch was exciting. He worked hard to bring the character to life.

“When I found out I got the role, I went home and rented the Grinch movie and watched that a couple times just to get the feel of who the Grinch really was,” Harlan said.

Sophomore cast member Taylor Bailey admits that with less than a week to go, the production team was struggling to perfect their performances.

“Rehearsals have been complicated because a few people haven’t been coming and that makes it harder to go through everything,” Bailey said.

Guse encourages everyone to come out and enjoy a night full of holiday cheer that the cast has created.

“There are some kids who never have an opportunity to see any kind of a Christmas program at all, unless there is one at their school,” Guse said. “I think it’s really important for kids to at least attend one Christmas program.”

Guse believes that the play will remind everyone of the true meaning of Christmas, that sometimes get lost in the excitement over material gains.
“Christmas is not all about the presents and the commercialism,” Guse said. “It’s about the spirit and being together. We have kind of gotten away from that.”
