Desiring more time with his family, Dr. Alfred Ray has announced his intent to retire as Superintendent of Schools for Duncanville ISD, effective June 30, 2018. Dr. Ray will assume the role of Chief Special Projects Officer from July 1, 2015 through his retirement on June 30, 2018. Dr. Ray will be responsible for overseeing/managing the district’s 102.545 million dollar bond program, which was passed last November under Ray’s tenure as Superintendent by 64 percent of the voters.
On behalf of the entire district, the Board of Trustees expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Ray for his efforts while serving as Superintendent of this great school district and its wonderful students, parents and administrators, and for the many achievements and accomplishments of the entire district team during his tenure and distinguished career as an employee of the district.
As part of the district’s leadership transition plan, the Board of Trustees would like to welcome Dr. Deborah Cron as Duncanville ISD’s new Assistant Superintendent for Personnel. She will begin this role late next week. Dr. Cron retired from Weatherford ISD in 2011 where she served as superintendent for ten years. Prior to Weatherford, her career in education spanned twenty-nine years in Garland ISD as an English teacher, high school assistant principal, Director of Communications and Assistant Superintendent for Education Operations.
The Board extends its best wishes to Dr. Ray and looks forward to his continued service to the district as Chief Special Projects Officer through his retirement in 2018. The Board will soon begin its search for an Interim Superintendent to move forward with the district’s operations.
