After weeks of collecting money in classes at Duncanville High School, the school’s student council was able to raise $1067.53 for the North Texas Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the Pennies for Patients program.
“It was very successful and we’re happy with the turnout” member Nenad Vukovic said.
In order to collect the money, the student council placed jars in each classroom at Duncanville High School with the hopes of collecting as much money as possible. While the goal for the student council was to have a competition among all sixth block classes to see who could collect the most money, the group ultimately just wanted for teachers and students to donate what they could- even if it was just one penny. For student council president Emilu Mata, getting everyone at Duncanville to participate was a really unexpected but great thing.
“We are glad that all of the Duncanville High School teachers and students helped out in our project” Mata said. “We want to thank everyone who helped out.”
